David Hubbard was born in Denver, Colorado on October 25th, 1956. He moved to Big Island on June 30th, 2002.
As a painter, he is most delighted with the dynamic balance between portrayal and “paintiosity” inherent in working with oil paint. By using simple and classic subject matter, Hubbard focuses on the process of painting and on the plastic and graphic possibilities of the paint itself, while allowing the eye and hand to portray, hopefully, the essence- the suchness- of the subject. Regardless of the day’s result he is happy to have painted.
